Antariksa, Irwan Ahmett & Tita Salina at Cemeti Art House

This Thursday 11 of December there will be a presentation and discussion about the Japanese-occupied Indonesia.

Antariksa is a researcher and co-founder of KUNCI Cultural Studies in Yogyakarta. He is now working on his new book about Indonesian art during Japanese occupation in 1940’s.

Irwan Ahmett and Tita Salina are two artists from Jakarta whose practice often touch on themes of ‘vulnerability’, because they believe that their processes contain essential issues of humanism at its most basic and universal centre.

They will present a series of interventions from their three month residency at the Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan. In this presentation they will also speak about Japan’s geopolitical relationship with Indonesia, beginning with historical connections, as well as the spectrum of contemporary situations, and then imagining a leap far into the future, looking at the vulnerability of a social order.
